Signing Tots I & II (Wee Hands)
About 100 signs taught as well as over ten songs and games to sign and sing with your toddler! Language strategies appropriate for this age also discussed.
For parents and caregivers with children walking - 3 years old. During this class, parents will will go over the benefits of signing in American Sign Language (ASL), explain how to sign, teach some basic signs, sign and sing some songs, read and sign a book and be available for any questions.
Because there are so many benefits to signing with your child, many parents are eager to learn ASL. It can help lessen the frustration for pre-verbal babies, give babies a jump-start on expressive language, build self-esteem, increase IQs and more.

The instructor for this class is Courtney Koumjian, ASL Licensed Instructor with WeeHands and mom to four children. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a BS degree in Community Services where she studied ASL quite seriously. When her fourth child was born four years ago, her ASL skills came in use again, this time in her personal life. Her son was born hard of hearing so the family now communicates using both ASL and speech. After volunteering in another son's pre-school class teaching signs, it was clear they loved it and were hungry for more. Not only was it a joy to teach the children, but she also knew how it could benefit so many families. For babies and toddlers, to communicate earlier than they would with speech, is a parent's dream. Courtney enjoys being a helpful part of that experience with families.
